Russia sends six satellites into orbit in one rocket

A Russian rocket sent two Russian and four foreign satellites into orbit Saturday, the Itar-Tass news agency reported.

A Russian rocket sent two Russian and four foreign satellites into orbit Saturday, the Itar-Tass news agency reported.

The Kosmos-3M rocket blasted off at the Plesetsk State Test Cosmodrome in the northwest of the country at 10:12 a.m. Moscow time (0612 GMT), the news agency quoted the press service from Russia's space forces as saying.

The satellites, including the ones from Nigeria, Turkey, Britain and South Korea, entered their target orbit at 11:46 a.m. Moscow Time (0746 GMT), the press service said.

The launch had been scheduled for Friday, but was postponed "for technical reasons", Russian officials said.

The two Russian satellites are used for science experiments andattuning ground radar respectively. The four foreign satellites are designed for probing and studying the Earth.
