CPPCC chairman meets executives of China Overseas Friendship Association

Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met Saturday with the members of the Second Executive Council of the China Overseas Friendship Association (COFA) who are gathering in Beijing to hold their first conference.

Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met Saturday with the members of the Second Executive Council of the China Overseas Friendship Association (COFA) who are gathering in Beijing to hold their first conference.

During the meeting, the CPPCC leader urged the COFA executives to increase their sense of glory, responsibility and mission to strive for the reunification of the motherland and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

The six years since the founding of the association have proven that it is an important organization for the United Front and the compatriots of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao are an important force for the reunification of the motherland and rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, Jia said.

The new situation and tasks provide COFA valuable opportunities and bring higher demands, he noted.
