The 12-day fair, co-sponsored by the Beijing press and publication bureau and Beijing book publication industry association, has offered a record assortment of over 230,000 publications provided by about 1,000 publishing houses and book stores across the country.

According to the sponsors, the sale volume as of Friday exceeded 12 million yuan (about 1.44 million US dollars) and publications about economy, social science, travel and foreign language were the best sellers.

Activities scheduled during the fair also include presentations of new books, special-topics speeches, and sales promotions for writers to meet readers.
