N. province reports 30 percent growth in revenue

The northern province of Shanxi registered 25.3 billion yuan (3 billion US dollars) in fiscal revenue in the first eight months, or nearly 80 percent of the projected yearly total.

The northern province of Shanxi registered 25.3 billion yuan (3 billion US dollars) in fiscal revenue in the first eight months, or nearly 80 percent of the projected yearly total.

The provincial statistics bureau said the province recorded a 28.39 percent year-on-year increase in fiscal revenue in the firstquarter, 25.81 percent in the second, and 30.23 percent in the January-August period.

Dramatic increases were reported in expenditures for medical and health services -- a result of SARS -- infrastructure, state-owned enterprise reform and forestry.
