South Korea, the United States and Japan will hold a trilateral meeting in Seoul on Oct. 13-14 to decide the future of the project for the construction of light water reactors in Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), reported South Korean Yonhap News Agency on Sunday.

Lee Sun-jin, deputy minister for policy planning and international organizations of South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mitchell Reiss, director of policy planning of the US Department of State, and Nishida Tsuneo, deputy minister for foreign policy of the Japanese Foreign Ministry will attend the talks.

According to an agreement signed by Pyongyang and Washington in1993, the US agreed to help Pyongyang to construct two light waterreactors by the end of 2003 and to provide 500,000 tons of heavy fuel oil to the DPRK every year. While the DPRK agreed to suspend its nuclear activities.

After the DPRK nuclear issue erupted in October 2002, the construction work of the reactors progressed very slowly. The US regarded Pyongyang's resumption of nuclear activities as breach ofthe agreement.
