One killed, two injured in residential building blast in Shenzhen

One people was killed and two others injured Saturday afternoon in a powerful explosion in a residential building in Shenzhen city, south China's Guangdong Province.

One people was killed and two others injured Saturday afternoon in a powerful explosion in a residential building in Shenzhen city, south China's Guangdong Province.

The explosion occurred at around 3:30 p.m. Saturday inside an apartment of about 80 square meters on the ground floor of a residential building in the Honghuaxincun Village of Songgang Township in the Bao'an District of Shenzhen city.

A partition wall inside the apartment was blown down by the explosion and all the windows were destroyed completely.

The neighbouring residents said that the owner of the apartmentwas in chemical business and a lot of chemical products were stacked in the room.

Officials of the Bao'an District rushed to the scene for rescueand relief operations immediately after the accident, and the cause of explosion is still under investigation.
