Hunan chalks in US$2.38 billion from foreign trade

In the January-August period this year, central China's Hunan Province registered foreign trade of 2.38 billion US dollars, up 31.6 percent on a yearly basis.

In the January-August period this year, central China's Hunan Province registered foreign trade of 2.38 billion US dollars, up 31.6 percent on a yearly basis.

Of the total, 1.345 billion US dollars of goods were exported, up 15.8 percent year-on-year and 1.035 billion US dollars of goodswere imported, up 59.9 percent, according to latest statistics from the local government.

In August alone, the foreign trade of the province reached 312 million US dollars, up 27.2 percent.

Japan remained the largest trade partner of the province, with transaction volume standing at 374 million US dollars, while the United States took the second position with a trade volume of 268 million US dollars.

Garments and minerals were the major exports of the inland province.
