S Korean president appealing for national confidence

South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun said Friday he would appeal to the nation for confidence in his ability to administer state affairs in a proper and fair manner.

South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun said Friday he would appeal to the nation for confidence in his ability to administer state affairs in a proper and fair manner.

In an emergency press conference at the Blue House, Roh said hewould ask for the people's support following the conclusion of investigations of various political scandals involving his aides and other politicians, reported South Korean national news agency Yonhap News Agency.

Roh said he cannot evade the responsibility for the act of his former secretary who is suspected of having received political fund from local business group SK Group before last year's presidential election.

He said he would like seek "a kind of vote of confidence" before the general elections are held in April next year, the Yonhap News said.

Moreover, deputy spokeswoman of the Blue House Lee Jie-hyun told Xinhua that Roh has not made his decision on the form of gaining support from local residents, and he will let South Koreanpeople to discuss first and then to decide on the format of seeking national confidence.

Roh represented the Millennium Democratic Party in the last year 's presidential election. He took office in February this year.
