Trade promotion organizations from China, Portuguese-speaking countries reach agreement

Trade promotion organizations from seven Portuguese-speaking countries and China reached an agreementon economic cooperation here Sunday at the first economic forum between the two sides.

Trade promotion organizations from seven Portuguese-speaking countries and China reached an agreementon economic cooperation here Sunday at the first economic forum between the two sides.

China's Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute and the trade promotion organizations from the seven Portuguese-speaking countries inked the agreement at a trade and investment fair.

The fair is part of the three-day Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries of Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal and East Timor, which kicked off Sunday.

The agreement stipulates that the signatory parties shall commit themselves to enhancing mutual economic and trade cooperation through the means of market research, trade exchanges,the establishment of business partnership, investment promotion, support for private enterprises, and the organizing of conferences,meetings, workshops, exhibitions and seminars.

Addressing the opening of the fair, Vice President of China's Council for the Promotion of International Trade Gao Yan noted that the council has organized several visits for Chinese entrepreneurs to visit Portuguese-speaking countries to discuss trade and economic cooperation.

Gao expressed hope that entrepreneurs from China and the seven countries would fully utilize the event to tap up cooperative potential and set up closer economic ties.

Lee Peng Hong, president of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, noted that the fair is designed to promote the economic cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries in the aspects of agriculture, construction, tourism andservices.

The fair provides free matching and appointment making service with a view to facilitating the exchanges and contacts among participating entrepreneurs, according to Lee.
