Bank robbery suspect shot dead in central China
A suspected bank robber was shot dead Sunday evening on a fishing boat in Tianmen City, Hubei Province, while resisting police arrest.

A suspected bank robber was shot dead Sunday evening on a fishing boat in Tianmen City,
Hubei
Province, while resisting police arrest.
Xie Xianrong was allegedly responsible for robbing a cash-carrying bank vehicle and killing four people in Qianjiang City, Hubei, on Sept. 29.
Xie allegedly ambushed the vehicle of a Qianjiang bank office around 8 a.m. as it arrived at the bank and the cash being transferred. After shooting at the driver and guards, Xie stole 348,800 yuan (42,200 US dollars) and a pistol from the vehicle.
Three people died at the scene and one died later in hospital.
A police investigation identified Xie as the robber and he was tracked to the boat where he was shot in a gunfight.
Xie also stole about 20,000 yuan (2,420 US dollars) from a middle school in Jingzhou City, Hubei, on Sept. 10, 2002, leaving one person dead and two injured.
Xie escaped a police hunt on Aug. 5, 2003, after shooting and injuring a police officer in Jingmen City, Hubei.
