HK, Macao to enhance air services cooperation

Hong Kong's secretary for economic development & labor Stephen Ip and Macao's Secretary for Transport & Public Works Ao Man Long signed an Air services Arrangement here Monday.

Hong Kong's secretary for economic development & labor Stephen Ip and Macao's Secretary for Transport & Public Works Ao Man Long signed an Air services Arrangement here Monday.

The arrangement aims at promoting long-term development of air services between the two cities, said the officials.

Effective immediately, airlines on both sides will enjoy equal opportunities to operate scheduled services between Hong Kong and Macao.

Ip said at the signing ceremony that he was delighted that the two Special Administrative Regions have concluded the arrangement,adding this is a milestone in the development of the air services between the two sides.

He said Hong Kong and Macao have strong economic, trade, tourism and other links and the demand for services has been growing steadily in recent years.

"The conclusion of the arrangement will help to strengthen our linkages and cooperation in various sectors and promote the economic development of both Hong Kong and Macao," Ip said.
