The First China Agricultural Trade Fair will run in Beijing from Nov. 11 to 16.

It is the first of its kind in China since the country entered the World Trade Organization (WTO), said Zhang Yuxiang, director of the Market and Information Department under the Ministry of Agriculture.

Sponsored by the ministry and supported by the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Finance, the fair aims to strengthen the connection between the production and sales of farm produce and further open China's agricultural market to the world, said Zhang at a press conference here Tuesday.

The world would be better informed of Chinese agricultural development and Chinese agricultural enterprises would obtain moreopportunities to promote their sales in the overseas market, addedZhang.

So far, about 400 agriculture-related enterprises at home and abroad will take their products to the fair, while buyers from more than 22 countries and regions have decided to visit it, said Zhang.

Beside the field fair which covers an area of 30,000-square-meter, a website will also be established for on-line trade activities.

The fair will be held every year in the future, said Zhang.
