Nevada State of the United States hopes to strengthen exchanges with China in tourism and commercial investment, Lieutenant Governor Lorraine Hunt said Tuesday at a press conference in Beijing.

Hunt was leading her first official delegation to China and will visit Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Macao.

"China is the world's fastest growing economy and presents golden opportunities to the development of tourism and trade. The mission will open significant doors between China and Nevada and enable us to establish business connections," she said.

She said Nevada welcomed Chinese visitors to experience the world-class resort hotels, exciting attractions and friendly business environment.

She visited officials in the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China and hoped to open direct flights to China as soon as possible. The state hopes Chinese citizens visit the United States.

Nevada, the most mountainous state in the United States, is favored by many outdoor tourists and is home to many world-class meeting and exhibition facilities. The state now hosts nearly 50 million visitors every year with tourism revenue surpassing 75 million US dollars, said Bruce Bommarito, executive director of the Nevada Tourism Commission.

Bommarito hoped to see more Chinese visitors in the near future and also to open a representative office in China and cooperation with China in hotel management education.
