Japan rebounded from a bad start and Karino Ayumi scored six points as defending champion Japan defeated China Thursday at the Junior Women's World Softball Championship.

Karino Ayumi drove in three runs in the fourth inning and two in fifth, leading Japan to a 7-0 victory.

Liu Yaming, head coach of China, said: "Japan did a good job in attacking and our players made some errors. They are a little nervous during the match."

After two non-scoring innings, Japan launched a brilliant attack in the fourth by Karino to beat China 5-0. Sakamoto Naoko added a run-hit.

Japan's head coach Watanabe Tsutomu said that Karino's performance was beyond his expectation. "Karino's performance is quite good today. She is one of the main force of our team," said Watanabe.

Karino continued her water-pouring attacking in the fifth inning with an out-field hit to scored two points and Shimabukuro Yumi drove in one hit.

Although China didn't get any scoring chance during the five innings, Watanabe said that Japan was not as strong as the result showed.

"Chinese girls are nervous in front of home crowds. The result doesn't mean Japan is much better than China."

Early on Thursday, the United States defeated Chinese Taipei 8-1 and the Netherlands beat Argentina 4-3.
