Indian satellite placed into orbit

The 1360-kg 'Resourcesat-1' was successfully placed into the Sun Synchronous Orbit, 817 km above the Earth, at 10.39 a.m.

The 1360-kg 'Resourcesat-1' was successfully placed into the Sun Synchronous Orbit, 817 km above the Earth, at 10.39 a.m.

The satellite was lifted off by the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) from Satish Dhawan Space Center at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh on Friday, Indian Space Research Organization announced.

The satellite will make 14 orbits a day and the life of the mission is expected to be five years.
