" Welcome to the space!" " Wish you a happy journey and good luck!" that's greetings in Chinese from Edward Lu, an American Chinese aboard on the international space station, to Yang Liwei who, China's first astronaut, was in his maiden mission in the space.

The video played at the channel operated by American space agency NASA showed that Edward Lu and his Russian partner Yuri Malenchenko, both in blue and microphone in hand, extended in turn their congratulations to China's virgin manned spaceflight .

" We would like to congratulate you first," Edward said, " it's great, a great achievement."

Yuri Malenchenko said: " I am glad to have another man joining Edward and me in the space. I know China has the Great Wall. Congratulations to all Chinese people." The Russian astronaut held with his bride on earth a "wedding ceremony in outer space" in last August, the first of its kind in human history.

Earlier that day, the land monitoring center with NASA in Huston officially informed the two astronauts of China's successful launch of its first manned spacecraft. NASA had a special release about the conversation recorded between Edward and the ground flight liaison on the matter of China's spaceflight.

"We have a real exciting news to share with you. China has been ranked the 3rd capable of piloting the manned spaceflight, a new country in the world. A fresh one." the liaison told Lu.

And Lu responded: " Terrific. It's really a good news."

The liaison added that China's spaceman Yang Liwei orbited the earth 14 times. " Russia and America will share the space with China." He went on to say.

After that, Lu wished Yang Liwei in Chinese "a happy journey." He then explained it in English.

As the members of Group 7 for Long-term Inspection in International Space Station, Edward Lu and Yuri Malenchenko were taken up into the space by Russia's Soyuz spacecraft. They are scheduled to be back onto the earth on Oct. 27.
