Saudi Arabia says it would do every thing to help in bringing about a peaceful settlement of Kashmir problem between Pakistan and India as it threatened peace and security in the region.

This was stated by the Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud-al-Faisal in a joint news conference with his Pakistani counterpart Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri after their talks in Islamabad Sunday.

He said Saudi Arabia appreciates the leadership of President Pervez Musharraf in seeking a peaceful settlement of this problem with India.

In reply to a question about India-Israeli nexus, Prince Saud al-Faisal said this cooperation is aimed at not achieving good forthe region but would inflame the region and would add to arms race.He said it is a worrying element of instability and insecurity andas such countries of Asia should take account of that.

He pointed out that Israel, since its inception, is responsiblefor instability in the middle-east and spreading its influence to other parts of the world.

The two foreign ministers said that the Islamic countries including Pakistan and Saudi Arabia would be ready to extend help including deployment of troops only if the Iraqi people so desiredand requested.

They pointed out that the needs of Iraqi people are too large to meet and this is possible to accomplish if the assistance is provided by the Islamic Ummah together.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri said even after passage of the UN resolution, Pakistan will have to take into account its domestic situation. He said public opinion in Pakistan would satisfy only if the request is perceived to be coming from the people of Iraq.

The two foreign ministers described talks between President Pervez Musharraf and Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz last night as deeply, thorough and a follow up to the Putrajaya OIC summit in Malaysia. They emphasized that a follow-up is needed because the decisions taken on paper must be met with real action.
