Guangdong's foreign trade tops 200 billion US dollars

Guangdong Province, an economic powerhouse in south China, registered a foreign trade volume of 200.93 billion US dollars in the first three quarters this year, a year-on-year increase of 25.8 percent, customs statistics show.

Guangdong Province, an economic powerhouse in south China, registered a foreign trade volume of 200.93 billion US dollars in the first three quarters this year, a year-on-year increase of 25.8 percent, customs statistics show.

The province's foreign trade volume accounted for 33.1 percent of the national total for the first nine months.

Guangdong's exports for September alone grew 25.7 percent year-on-year to hit 15.05 billion US dollars, according to statistics.

Guangdong exported electromechanical products worth 68.52 billion US dollars and high-tech products worth 32.07 billion US dollars, respectively, in the January-September period, up 33 percent and 49.7 percent respectively over the corresponding period of last year.

Moreover, the province also saw steady growth in the export of clothing, textiles products and toys in the first nine months.

Private enterprises in the province registered 7.36 billion US dollars in exports, 1.7 times the figure for the first nine months last year.

The exports of foreign-funded companies, meanwhile, grew 33.1 percent to reach 65.75 billion US dollars, or 61.6 percent of the province's total for the first nine months.
