China's first astronaut Yang Liwei to visit Hong Kong

China's first astronaut Yang Liwei will visit Hong Kong at the end of this month, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Tung CheeHwa announced Friday.

China's first astronaut Yang Liwei will visit Hong Kong at the end of this month, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Tung CheeHwa announced Friday.

Yang will conduct a four-day visit to Hong Kong beginning from Oct. 31. Some space-flight scientists and engineers will accompany Yang on his visit. During his stay in Hong Kong, Yang will meet with people from different walks of life in Hong Kong.

The 38-year-old Yang, a fighter pilot turned astronaut who travelled on Oct. 15-16 over 600,000 km in space as his spaceship orbited the globe 14 times at a speed of 90 minutes per round, became a hero of the Chinese nation overnight.
