More than 130 students have received the first "knowledge account" in China from Zhu Shanli, associate professor and vice president of Guanghua School of Management, Peking University.

The "knowledge account", as we put it, is actually a paper record of the learning experience of each student in the senior exeutive training program at Peking University. The brochure is specially designed by Guanghua's EDP (Executive Development Program) to register the knowledge acquiring process for students. Except for what is deposited and withdrawn is knowledge, it functions all the same as does a bank account, hence named the "knowledge account". Specifically, it jots down the notes of the type and intensity in the training that an executive receives. In this way, the executive and the training institution can decide and design in a dynamical way a more targeted professional training program.

The first holder of the account said with emotion: " I have a very clear plan for my life. I would work hard in the ten years from the age of 22 to 32 to build up experience and knowledge. From 32 to 35 I would be back to school to learn something more. Schooling and vacation may consume my savings accumulated in the last ten years. I would work up my career to a higher stage from the age of 35 to 45. After 45, I would like to go with my beloved and lead a life that I have dreamed of."

The increasingly fierce competition in labor market has set people motivated to a further study. EDP enjoys a full-fledged market in foreign countries while it is still in its initial stage in China. However, there are over 10m enterprises registered at the Commercial and Industrial Bureau in China, of which over 300 thousand are of some scale. The market potential for EDP is quite promising should bosses and senior executives of these enterprises want to engage in the above-the-intermediary course of EDP.

Numerous internationally well-known business schools are eyeing on the Chinese market. Now in China, Guanghua School of Management is the first to offer EDP. This is followed with the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business and School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University. " Due to the division of work in the society, we are not the direct creator of wealth. But we make our efforts to help more executives attain more valuable knowledge so that they create more social wealth. And that is our mission," said L Feng, deputy director of EDP Center, Guanghua School of Management.
