The customs office in Dandong, a northeast China city, reported a 17.5 percent rise in trade with neighboring Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in the first three quarters of the year.

Total trade volume with the DPRK stood at 1.06 million tons in the nine months, with imports jumping 47.6 percent to 352,000 tons and exports rising 6.6 percent to 703,000 tons.

The total value reached 344.57 million US dollars, up 11.14 percent from a year earlier, with imports up 12.34 percent to 112.22 million US dollars and exports up 10.56 percent to 232.35 million US dollars.

Meanwhile the exports of crude oil, chemical goods and farm products kept rising with drops in exports of rubber products, machinery, plastics and metal goods.
