Successful issuance of global bond demonstrates international confidence in China's economy: official

The recent successful issuance of China's global bond has demonstrated the confidence of the international community in China's economy, according to a senior Chinese financial official.

The recent successful issuance of China's global bond has demonstrated the confidence of the international community in China's economy, according to a senior Chinese financial official.

Vice-Minister of Finance Li Yong told an international forum here Wednesday that the issuance of the global bond worth 1.5 billion US dollars last Thursday in New York was a very important decision of the Chinese government.

Li said that though China has acquired an abundant forex reserve, the country is still willing to enter the international financial market and establish a communication mechanism through this means. ����

"I would like to have one or two opportunities every year to communicate with international investors," Li said.

The vice-minister said only the market could test how good the bond is, stressing that China has conveyed positive messages about its economy to the international investors by issuing the global bond.

It is a landmark transaction that would help China make some rearrangements of the country's bond business, Guo said, revealing that China would pay off some multilateral loans with relatively high interest rates by the capital acquired from the bond.
