Guangzhou trade fair nets US$20.49b in business deals

The 94th China Export Commodity Fair, which closed in Guangzhou, capital city of south China's Guangdong Province Thursday, scored a record 20.49 billion US dollars in business deals.

The 94th China Export Commodity Fair, which closed in Guangzhou, capital city of south China's Guangdong Province Thursday, scored a record 20.49 billion US dollars in business deals.

The trade fair, which opened in Guangzhou on Oct. 15, attracteda record 150,485 business people from 201 countries and regions, according to Xu Bing, a spokesman for the event.

According to Xu, electromechanical products took the lion's share of the export business deals struck at the fair to reach 8.2billion US dollars.

The volume of export goods going to the European Union and the United States accounted for 47.7 percent of the total export volume sealed at the fair, reaching 6.1 billion and 3.67 billion US dollars respectively.

Exports to the Middle East and Russia saw rapid growth, with Guangdong, Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces, all economic giants in China, being the leading exporters.
