New chief appointed to head Russia's Yukos

Russia's oil giant Yukos said Tuesday it had appointed a new executive chief to head the company.

Russia's oil giant Yukos said Tuesday it had appointed a new executive chief to head the company.

In a statement posted on its website, Yukos said Simon Kukes, a Russian-born American, has been appointed to replace Mikhail Khodorkovsky, who has been jailed on charges of fraud and tax evasion and resigned Monday.

Yukos is the world's fourth largest oil company.
