Beijing to launch largest revamp of 'Siheyuan'

The largest ever face-lift to Beijing's traditional courtyards is to kick off this year. The to-be-revamped Siheyuan area, called Sanyanjing Hutong is situated in downtown Doncheng District.

The largest ever face-lift to Beijing's traditional courtyards is to kick off this year. The to-be-revamped Siheyuan area, called Sanyanjing Hutong is situated in downtown Doncheng District.

Officials said the new Sanyanjing Hutong is expected to fully showcase the original layout and style of traditional Beijing courtyard homes.

It will be built as a protected historical and cultural relic which features ancient style architecture.
