Jiang Zemin meets Clinton, Kissinger

Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China Jiang Zemin met separately in Beijing Monday with former president of the United States Bill Clinton and former secretary of state of the United States Dr. Henry Kissinger.

Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China Jiang Zemin met separately in Beijing Monday with former president of the United States Bill Clinton and former secretary of state of the United States Dr. Henry Kissinger.

Jiang recalled his meetings with Clinton, and expressed appreciation for the efforts the former US president had made in improving and developing Sino-US relations during his presidency.

Clinton said he still remembers very well the meetings he had with Jiang and said he would continue to make efforts for the growth of US-China relations.

Jiang and Clinton both gave positive remarks on the growth of Sino-US relations, stressing that a long-term, stable growth of bilateral relations on the basis of the three joint communiques sighed by the two countries would serve the common interest of both sides, and also contribute to the peace and development of Asia and the world at large.

Jiang and Clinton also exchanged views on issues concerning Sino-US economic and trade relations, Iraq, the Korean nuclear and the prevention and treatment of AIDS disease.

While meeting Dr. Henry Kissinger, Jiang praised the former US secretary of state for the important contributions he had made over the years and his long-term efforts in promoting Sino-US ties.Dr. Kissinger said he would go on working to enhance US-China relations.
