The manufacturer of China's spacecraft and Long March launch vehicle said Tuesday it will market software it developed on its own during the past two decades, including designing and manufacturing management software, and a database.

Zhang Qingwei, general manager of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp. (CAST), the manufacturer, said software developed by the country's aerospace sector should serve not only the sector itself and the industry for national defense, but also the vast domestic civilian market.

CAST set up the Beijing Shenzhou Aerospace Software Technology Co., in cooperation with two academies and one of its listed firms,on Tuesday to market the software and develop other software products.

The general manager said the corporation will strive to make the software a famous name product after its brand name "Shenzhou" for the spacecraft it developed, and the "Shenjian" launch vehicleit developed for the manned space program.

The software products include the framework software for management of integrated designing and manufacturing of space flying objects and a database named Oscar.

The framework software can also be used by manufacturers of civilian products, such as the sectors of aviation, machinery, automobile and home electric appliances.

The database system can be used in electronic government and business, and the corporate world.

The software were developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, the manufacturer of the country's powerful Long March launch vehicle, and the China Academy of Space Technology, the country's major producer of Shenzhou spacecraft and satellites. Both academies are affiliated with CAST.

With about 100,000 employees, CAST is specialized in some civilian products as well as rockets, strategic missiles, satellites and spacecraft.
