Sci-tech base, experts' park to be built in Beihai, Guangxi

A sci-tech base at an estimated cost of 3.2 billion yuan and an experts' park covering 200,000 square meters will be built in the Beihai City, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region , as is known from a forum on sci-tech industrialization held lately by the China International Association for Promoting Science and Technology.

A sci-tech base at an estimated cost of 3.2 billion yuan and an experts' park covering 200,000 square meters will be built in the Beihai City, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region , as is known from a forum on sci-tech industrialization held lately by the China International Association for Promoting Science and Technology.

Jointly financed by the said Association, the International Association of Chinese Experts and Professionals, Hong Kong-based Dazhonghua Investment Management Ltd and New Asia Investment Ltd, the sci-tech base, as is learned, will be located 5 kilometers east of the city center, covering an area of 2500 mu (about 1,666,667 square meters) and including seven parts for management and training, exhibition, agricultural demonstration and processing, logistics and R&D, construction and assembling and living compound.

At the three-day forum, representatives held hot discussions on how to realize sci-tech industrialization under new conditions and how to raise the technological content of local industries and boost local economy. They also discussed the necessity and feasibility of building the sci-tech base. The forum is attended by more than 90 academicians and experts from nationwide.

After completion in four or five years, it will serve as a platform for modern investment and exchanges integrating sectors of hi-tech, information and logistics. The aim is to usher in and settle more hi-tech achievements and experts into the nation's western regions and boost the hi-tech industrialization process and local economy. Among the first batch of scientific achievements to be industrialized there are light construction materials, environment disinfectant for raising shrimps, silicon-empowered, environment-friendly battery.
