Strong earthquake hits Tokyo

A fairly strong earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale jolted Tokyo and its neighboring prefectures in eastern Japan.

A fairly strong earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale jolted Tokyo and its neighboring prefectures in eastern Japan.

According to Japanese Meteorological Agency, the quake, which occurred at around 05:27 p.m. (0627 GMT), was strongly felt in Tokyo and its surrounding areas.

The meteorological agency put the epicenter at southern region of Mie Prefecture and said the epicenter was estimated at about 380 km under earth surface.

There is no death reported so far.
