Arafat urges world to aid new Palestinian cabinet

Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat urged on Wednesday the international community to help the new cabinet of Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei, or Abu Alla, that was approved by the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) earlier in the day.

Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat urged on Wednesday the international community to help the new cabinet of Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei, or Abu Alla, that was approved by the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) earlier in the day.

Arafat told reporters in Ramallah in the West Bank that supporting Qurei's cabinet will achieve comprehensive peace in the Middle East region.

He called on "brothers in the Arab area" and the members of the Quartet Committee on Mideast peace to support the new Palestinian government.

Giving Qurei government their support would empower it in order to be able to protect the peace and achieve comprehensive on in the holly territories, Arafat stressed.

Asked about his message to the new government of Qurei, Arafat said "I bless Abu Alla government from the button of my heart, and I tell him together we will go side by side to Jerusalem the capital of our independent state."

Arafat urged the new Palestinian government to continue and be more strong in supporting the Palestinian people, stressing that "at the end our children will go together with us to Jerusalem to raise the Palestinian flag of our state there."
