A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) called for efforts Monday to carry forward the fine tradition of the Party and make it one of the driving forces in the bid to revitalize the nation.

Li Changchun, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said the fine tradition includes firmness in revolutionary belief, striving for success amid harsh conditions, seeking truth from facts, bravery in blazing a new road and relying on the broad masses.

Li made the remarks in a speech after visiting an ongoing exhibition at the National Museum of China on the spirit of Jinggang Mountains, the Party's first revolutionary base set up in1927. The fine tradition of the CPC that Li referred to was an elaboration of the spirit.

Li said the Party and governments should rely on the broad masses, serve the people whole-heartedly, make themselves the representative of the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the general public and strive to build a well-off society in China. Wu Guanzheng, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, visited the exhibition on Sunday, and called on the Party to be clean and honest, be ready to making contributions, work hard for the undertakings of the Party and the people, and build the Marxist world outlook, philosophy and values.
