The Indian navy is planning to build a base of unmanned reconnaissance planes on the Andaman Islands, which is located far eastern of India's metropolitan territory, so as to strength the reconnoitring capacity over the region, Indian media lately reported.
A similar base, as is known, has been recently set up at Kochi, headquarter of India's southern fleet which is near the west coast.
A number of Israel-made unmanned reconnaissance planes have been put into use at the control lines at the borders between India and Pakistan, India and China, local media reported. The Israel designed Hreon and searcher-2 aircraft, under remote control from the ground, can send back live image information on the regions flied over. This is a very efficient means of collecting intelligence. The chief aim of the establishment of a new base in Andaman Island, local media said, is to watch the activities of the Chinese navy in this sea area.
