Support for mayors of Shanghai, 67.4 percent, and Xian, 51.2 percent, also indicating an increase while slight decline witnessed in support for mayors in other cities.

County magistrates have gained lower support rate than mayors, the poll showed. Only 3 out of 7 magistrates in the polling collected support from over 50 percent of the residents. Mayors are also clearly more highly appreciated than the county chiefs for their performance in policy making, actual achievements, personal image, honest in administration and care for the people.

It is worth noticing that none of the items included in the evaluation has gained recognition of over 50 percent and the honest administration indicated the lowest acceptance.
