Chinese defense minister meets Russian guests

China is willing to cooperate with Russia to build a peaceful and prosperous border area to benefit the two peoples, said Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan Thursday.

China is willing to cooperate with Russia to build a peaceful and prosperous border area to benefit the two peoples, said Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan Thursday.

Cao, also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission anda state councilor, made the remark while meeting with Vladimir Pronichev, first deputy director of the Russian Federal Service of Security and director of the Russian Federal Border Service.

In recent years, the bilateral military relations had enjoyed steady development and the cooperation in border defense had been strengthened, he said.

Vladimir Pronichev said Russia attached importance to cooperation in border defense with China and would continue to abide by the relevant agreements with the Chinese side for a tranquil border area.
