US President George W. Bush on Friday partially lifted restrictions on US military aid to six East European countries -- Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia and Slovenia.

In a statement released by the White House, Bush said those countries would not lose US military aid for failing to shield Americans from the International Criminal Court.

"It is important to the national interest of the United States"to waive the aid restrictions for only specific projects that I have decided are needed to support the process of integration of these countries into NATO or to support the US campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan, Bush said.

The United States has suspended military aid to the six countries and many others in July for failing to shield Americans from the International Criminal Court.
