Turkish police have arrested 18 suspected people in connection with Thursday's blasts in Istanbul, local Hurriyet newspaper reported on Saturday.

The suicide bomb attacks, occurred in front of the British Consul General in Istanbul and the building of the HSBC Bank Inc., left 32 people dead and more than 450 others injured, according to local private TGRT TV on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday, Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said that some suspected people had been arrested, but it's too early to give any information about them.

The terrorists who staged the bomb attacks last Saturday were identified and the assailants of the recent attacks would be identified too, he told a joint news conference in Istanbul with visiting British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw.

"Certainly, this problem will be sorted out and security units will find those behind those attacks," Gul stressed.
