China, Brazil sign memorandum on agricultural cooperation
Chinese Vice-Minister of Agriculture Fan Xiaojian and his Brazilian counterpart, Jose Amauri Dimarzio, signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in agriculture and other related areas on Monday.

Under the memorandum, the two countries will carry out cooperation in a wide range of fields, including agricultural biotechnology; research in and production of agriculture and animal husbandry; food processing, shipment and marketing; protection of natural resources and the environment; and the implementation of laws on agriculture and trade in farm produce.
Both sides will encourage and facilitate direct contacts between organizations of the two countries, work out long-term plans for cooperation in trade, research, training and other potential areas.
The two countries also decided to form a joint committee on agricultural cooperation, which will be in charge of coordinating efforts for such cooperation.
Fan and his delegation arrived in Brazil on Sunday on a four-day visit. Besides holding talks with their Brazilian counterparts, they will also visit some agricultural and animal husbandry facilities in the country.
