China to strengthen competition policy, legislation: vice-premier

Chinese Vice-Premier Wu Yi said Tuesday that China will strengthen its competition policy and relevant legislation to create a legal guarantee for a fair and free market competition order.

Chinese Vice-Premier Wu Yi said Tuesday that China will strengthen its competition policy and relevant legislation to create a legal guarantee for a fair and free market competition order.

Wu told Mario Monti, commissioner for competition policy of the European Union (EU), during a meeting that the Chinese government pays great attention to competition policy and hopes to increase cooperation and exchange with the EU and other countries.

On his first visit to China, Monti said the EU attached high importance to its relations with China, and hopes to enhance cooperation and exchange in competition policy area with China.

Competition policy is one the areas that China and the EU agreed to enhance dialogue and exchanges on at the China-EU summit of 2001.
