More than 700 college students from over 200 colleges and universities joined the army Wednesday after three months' training.
The recruitment was authorized by the headquarters of the general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the PLA General Political Department.
The new recruits will be allocated to the general staff headquarters, the general political department, the National Defense Science and Technology University, the Military Academy of Sciences and the University of National defense.
The 700-plus new soldiers, with master and doctorate degrees accounting for nearly one third of the total, were selected from several thousand college graduates from across the country.
Since China began to recruit college students in 1991, more than 8,000 college and university graduates from across the country and some graduate students returned from overseas have served in the headquarters of the PLA general staff.
