Chinese artist awarded top medal of honor by Belarus President

Chinese artist Yuan Xikun was awarded a top medal of honor here Friday by Belarus Minister of Culture Leonid Povlovich Gulyako in the name of the Belarus President Alexander Grigorievich Lukashenko.

Chinese artist Yuan Xikun was awarded a top medal of honor here Friday by Belarus Minister of Culture Leonid Povlovich Gulyako in the name of the Belarus President Alexander Grigorievich Lukashenko.

More than 100 guests from the Chinese Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and foreign embassies to China were present at the awarding ceremony.

Gulyako said only those artists who contributed a lot to promoting the China-Belarus friendship and world peace could be granted this honor, expressing his hope that cooperation in various fields between the two countries would be further developed.

Yuan, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and curator of the Beijing Jintai Artist Museum, also presented a special stamp to President Lukashenko, on which he designed the figure of China's space hero Yang Liwei.
