China's national association for aquatic sports changed its name and new leaders were elected at its third national congress in Beijing Wednesday.

The national association, originally known as China Swimming Sports Association, has been renamed as China Swimming Association (CSA).

Duan Shijie, vice-minister of the State General Administration of Sports (SGAS), was elected president of the Beijing-based CSA.

Among the 21 vice-presidents are Yang Shu'an, vice-president ofthe Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), Li Hua, director of the SGAS Swimming Sports Administrative Center, Shang Xiutang and Li Weibo, deputy directors of the administrative center, and Zhang Qiuping, Deputy Director of the Sports Department of the BOCOG.

Li Hua was also elected CSA secretary-general and Li Weibo, the treasurer.

A non-profitable national mass sports organization founded in 1957 and a group member of the All-China Sports Federation, CSA supervises China's aquatic sports of swimming, diving, water polo and synchronized swimming. As a national sports organization recognized by the Chinese Olympic Committee, CSA is China's sole legitimate representative in swimming's world and regional governing bodies -- the International Amateur Swimming Federation (FINA) and the Asian Amateur Swimming Federation (AASF).
