A powerful explosion hit Georgia's state television center in Tbilisi on Wednesday, just a month before the presidential elections scheduled for January 4.

The explosion shattered windows in the building but caused no casualties, said the Interfax news agency. The reason for the explosion is still unknown.

The Georgian government believes it was an attempt to disrupt the upcoming elections.

On Nov. 29, a bomb went off near the main office of Georgia's Labor Party in the capital city of Tbilisi.

The explosions occurred in the wake of last month's dramatic power shift in Georgia. Former President Eduard Shevardnadze stepped down on Nov. 23 amid mounting protests against his rule and the disputed Nov. 2 parliamentary elections.
