New chairman of Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of HK elected
Ma Lik was elected here Tuesday as the new chairman of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong (DAB).

Ma Lik was elected here Tuesday as the new chairman of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of
Hong Kong
(DAB).
Ma said at a press conference after the election that he will lead the DAB to a new milestone with the combined wisdom of the alliance.
Ma Lik, born on Feb. 23, 1952, graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is a member of the Central Committee and Standing Committee of the DAB from 1994; chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the DAB from 1995; member of the Research Panel of the Joint Committee of the Promotion of the Basic Law of Hong Kong from 1996.
He was a member of the Selection Committee for the First Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) during 1996-1997; secretary general of the DAB from 1997; Executive Committee member of the Hong Kong Cheshire Home Foundation from 1997; member of the Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee from 1998; and member of the Board of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation from 2001.
The former leader of the DAB, Tsang Yok-sing, resigned the post after the DAB suffered a great loss in the District Council election on Nov. 23.
