Problems encountered by China as a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) will be discussed and hopefully solved at a top forum on international economic cooperation and development.

At the co-sponsorship of east China's Shandong provincial government's research office, the provincial foreign trade department and Shandong University, the forum will be held in the provincial capital of Jinan, on Saturday and Sunday, signifying the second anniversary of China's entry into the WTO, according to an official of the provincial foreign trade department.

The official noted that more than 10 economics and trade experts and scholars from China, Japan and the United States would attend the forum, discussing problems ranging from economic globalization and international competition and regional economic growth to Sino-US trade conflicts and foreign trade collaboration between China and Japan.

The forum would also invite officials in charge of economy and foreign trade, managers of domestic firms, university academicians and experts from economic research institutes.

"We hope that government as well as enterprises will benefit from the forum," said the official, "so that Shandong province andeven China as a whole will keep good pace with the developing trend of the WTO."
