Peninsula Hong Kong celebrates 75th anniversary

The Peninsula Hong Kong, one of the most luxury hotels in Hong Kong, celebrated its 75th anniversary with a charity gala Thursday.

The Peninsula Hong Kong, one of the most luxury hotels in Hong Kong, celebrated its 75th anniversary with a charity gala Thursday.

The charity gala raised 3.9 million HK dollars (502,577 US dollars) for five charitable organizations. They are AIDS Concern,Camp Quality Hong Kong , Hong Kong Alzheimer's Disease Association,KELY Support Group and Make-A-Wish Foundation of Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Chief ExecutiveTung Chee Hwa attended the celebration ceremony and unveiled the 75th anniversary commemorative plaque.

Live and silent auctions of magnificent prizes were conducted by Sotheby's. Live auction prizes included a trip for eight to thePeninsula Palace Beijing in a Gulfstream private jet, a Cartier 1928 vintage clock, a trip for two to Britain and a private guidedtour of the Rolls-Royce Motor VCars workshop.

The Peninsula Hotels operates luxury hotels in key gateways forAsia and the United States. It is a division of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited.
