China's Finance Ministry Thursday provided another 960 million yuan or more than 108 million US dollars to disaster-hit areas in the country to help the afflicted people buy grains and building materials.

Beneficiaries include people living in Gansu, Yunnan and Xingjiang, all of which were hit by earthquakes.

This year, many parts of the country have suffered from a series of natural disasters such as flooding, earthquakes, landslides and mud-rock flow.

The finance ministry has so far provided more than 4 billion yuan or nearly 500 million US dollars to those afflicted regions in 2003.
