Romanian president decorates China's Ambassador

Romanian President Ion Iliescu Friday bestowed Romania's Star with the rank of Grand Officer on China's ambassador to Romania, Chen Delai, at the end of the ambassador's term of office in the country.

Romanian President Ion Iliescu Friday bestowed Romania's Star with the rank of Grand Officer on China's ambassador to Romania, Chen Delai, at the end of the ambassador's term of office in the country.

The award is to recognize the important role the Chinese diplomat has played in promoting relations between China and Romania.

Iliescu commended the Chinese diplomat's dedication to his mission, saying the ambassador, who has a remarkable knowledge about Romania, had worked heart and soul to enhance friendly relations between the two nations.

Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Valer Dorneanu, attended the ceremony.
