The manufacturer of China's new-generation training plane for fighter pilots invited more than 3,000 Chinese army officers and experts and two military attaches with foreign embassies to watch the first test flight of the new aircraft, known as "Shanying (Mountain Eagle)".

The test flight was a success and the new training plane could be very competitive on the international market.

The Guizhou Aviation Industry Group Company, the parent company of the plant, expressed the hope that the new product would meet domestic demands for a sophisticated training plane as well as the international market which is demanding a new generation of training plane.

According to some established Chinese experts, the ratio between fighter plane and training plane is 4-6:1. The new training plane could be easily turned into a fighter aircraft.

Qian Zhaoquan, the pilot who tested the training plane, said he was satisfied with the Shanying. "It would score 4.5, if the perfect is 5," he said.

The new training plane has good vision and maneuvers in a simple, stable and accurate manner, the pilot said, acknowledging that all the equipment worked well during the test flight.
