Pakistan and Indonesia signed an anti-terrorism agreement on Tuesday, the state-run Pakistan TV (PTV) reported.

The agreement was signed following the talk between Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri, who arrived Sunday for a three-day visit, and Pakistani Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali.

The pact, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), assured that the two countries will make efforts to counter international terrorism, said the report.

The two sides agreed to establish a joint commission for bilateral cooperation in counter-terrorism operations, according to the MoU.

Another agreement was also inked the same day to promote trade relations between the two nations, said PTV.

Pakistan and Indonesia, two of the major Muslim countries, are facing similar security challenges. Earlier this year Pakistani authorities apprehended a number of terrorist suspects, who are Indonesian nationals, on its soil and handed them over to Indonesia.
