A businessman from China's Taiwan province was shot and killed in a holdup incident aboard a passenger vehicle early Thursday morning in Manila.

Some robbers declared a holdup inside the light bus soon after Peter Yang, 35, boarded the vehicle, the ABS-CBN on-line news quoted police authorities as saying.

Yang tried to resist the robbers, which prompted the suspects to shoot him, the report added. The victim was declared dead on arrival at a local hospital.

Last month, a popular Chinese Filipino amateur singer was also robbed and killed in a Manila suburb after he withdrew an unidentified amount of cash from a bank.
